Baltimore, MD — Moodle partners and learning management solutions providers Moodlerooms, Inc., and Remote-Learner USA, are pleased to announce their sponsorship of the Moodle Moot in Austin, TX, which will feature a keynote address by Martin Dougiamas, founder and lead developer of the world’s most widely-used learning management system, Moodle.

Delivering the keynote address on Monday, August 2, 2010, Dougiamas will provide background on the current state of open-source Moodle and insight into the new features, functionality and pedagogical direction of Moodle 2.0 -- the most anticipated Moodle release since version 1.0 was launched in 2002. Since Moodle’s inception, Moodle Moots have provided an opportunity for developers, users and educators throughout the world to meet and discuss Moodle developments and its role in today’s classrooms.

“We are honored to have Martin Dougiamas speak at the Moot, as he represents how technology can be implemented in classrooms throughout the world to make teaching and learning more effective and engaging,” says Joe McAvoy, Moodlerooms VP of Sales and Marketing. “The success of previous Moodle Moots throughout the world is evidence that providing quality education technology is a global effort, and this is a unique opportunity to support that effort.”

The Austin Moot, which will take place August 2-3, will provide a forum to explore and discuss Moodle and opportunities to test-drive various learning technologies in an edu-tech playground. Attendees can also participate in many presentations and breakout sessions that focus on building a global learning community, migrating to Moodle, and real-life experiences of how Moodle has helped organizations of varying size and scope achieve their goals.
