Baltimore, MD — Moodlerooms, Inc., provider of joule, the enterprise learning management platform, was presented the “Best Information Technology Company of the Year” award at the 10th annual Maryland Incubator Company of the Year Awards, held at the Center Club in Baltimore.

The awards recognized the technological achievements of seven incubator companies and one graduate company of the Maryland incubator program. The awards, chosen by a committee comprised of venture capitalists and leaders in business and government, were presented by Barbara Dreyer, president and CEO of Connections Academy, and Benjamin Wu, Technology Policy Advisor at DBED.

“Maryland’s Incubator program has been an avenue to success for Moodlerooms and has played an integral role helping us make connections and grow as a local startup,” says Joe McAvoy, Moodlerooms VP of Sales and Marketing. “We are deeply honored by this award and look forward to contributing further to Maryland’s high growth technology marketplace.”

As one of the eight companies recognized, Moodlerooms was selected based on its ability to set organizational goals and succeed in achieving its specific objectives. The judges considered factors such as technology or product development, growth of employee numbers and revenue, engagement of significant customers and strategic partners, innovation, self-sufficiency, impact on the region, and usage of the incubator's services.

“The Maryland incubators have provided Moodlerooms with the unique opportunity to utilize their network of technology professionals to make connections in raising funds, finding board advisors and hiring key personnel,” says Frank Dickson, Principal of the Maryland Venture Fund in the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. “Moodlerooms’ accomplishments will give them the capability to nurture other Maryland startups by cultivating a path to success."

Since 2005, Moodlerooms has been based in the Emerging Technology Center (ETC) at Johns Hopkins Eastern, located in Baltimore’s Waverly neighborhood.

“The ETC is very pleased that Moodlerooms was honored with this award,“ said Ann Lansinger, President of the Emerging Technology Centers. “This outstanding company deserves the recognition they have received.”
