Bob McDonald, Director of Customer Relations

Bob brings to Moodlerooms 20 years of experience in education and technology. From developing strategic marketing plans for technology firms to teaching students history at an inner-city Baltimore high school, Bob’s experience in both the corporate and educational sectors enhances our company’s ability to be knowledgeable and highly responsive to Moodlerooms’ clients. Prior to Moodlerooms, Bob extensively used Moodle to facilitate student learning and to achieve organizational goals as department chair at an independent school and was co-founder of Thinking Distance, Inc., a non-profit company designed to provide access to the benefits of Moodle.

Jean Macleod

Jean has extensive experience in customer service, working with clientèle and training with the corporate sector of a major airline. Jean understands the multiplicity of moodle uses for the start-up, the entrepreneur, the business turning to technology, and for the global corporation. She also appreciates the relational, collaborative benefits of moodling, and views team-building as an essential piece of successful classroom or corporate learning.

Lesli Smith

Prior to joining Moodlerooms, Inc, Lesli smith was a secondary school English teacher whose roles varied widely over her twelve-year teaching career; in addition to her role as teacher, she was a school librarian, a boarding school dorm advisor, an activities coordinator, a National Honor Society Advisor, and a school Moodle Adminstrator and trainer. From 2003-2008, Lesli also served as a Moodle Mentor at facultyroom.org, the community incubator project for the current Moodlerooms Community. The 2007-2008 school year was Lesli's fifth year using Moodle, and it significantly revolutionized her teaching practice. She is extremely enthusiastic about sharing this revolution with others.

Rod Spears

With the exception of a few years spent in the private sector, Rod has been engaged as a Professional Educator since 1979. In addition to his duties as a full-time teacher he has also served as a Head Soccer Coach at the club, high school and college levels and as an assistant high school football coach. After learning how the personal computer could be used as a powerful tool in the classroom in 1987 he developed a passion for Educational Technology, which led to an eventual Masters degree in Educational Technology and a focus on Instructional Design. He also discovered Moodle in 2003 and used it to supplement his classroom instruction for the past four years. His wife Debbie is also a career educator and continues to teach Special Education at the high school level.

Judson Aungst, Marketing Director

An experienced web, product, and event marketing professional, Judson has worked in the many facets of marketing with start-ups and corporations. Before coming to Moodlerooms, Judson worked for a cutting edge internet marketing firm in the Baltimore area that serviced the needs of the education sector. While working in internet marketing Judson worked with clients k-12, higher education, and non-profit clients including Sylvan Learning Centers, Laureate Education, and The YMCA. Prior to working in internet marketing, Judson served as the marketing director in a web start-up focused on leveraging innovative technologies to improve athletic performance. His experience with web marketing and start-ups serve him well in sharing the Moodlerooms vision.

Andy Braden, Manager of Customer Service

Prior to joining Moodlerooms Andy was volunteering at the HSU Geography Department assisting in the Advanced Cartography Lab, primarily teaching techniques with Adobe CS2 and Flash Studio 8 after completing study for a Certificate in GIS and Remote Sensing at Humboldt State University. Prior to this, worked for GLOBEtrotter/Macrovision for 4 years and in that time rose from entry level support through lead support engineer for End Users, then moved to Professional Services Group to provide training and on-site consultations for FLEXlm implementations and End User deployments including server hardware and network architecture recommendations. Andy has a BS from Humboldt State University and a Masters in Mathematics from the University of California, Davis.

Christopher Roy, IT Director

For eight years, Roy has been a senior software developer and system administrator for Vision Multimedia Technologies, LLC.. Developing in C, C++, C#, Java, perl, and php, Roy led numerous development projects, crafting complex web applications with clean human interfaces. His extensive work in linux, solaris, windows, aix; as well as deep knowledge of mysql, sql server, postgres, oracle, and db2 make him a powerful contributor to the various integrations, customizations, and API work requested by Moodlerooms clients.

Jason Hardin, Project Manager

Jason currently serves as the Project Manager for Moodlerooms's Moodle development department. Prior to Moodlerooms Jason worked for six year as a Programmer/Project Manager at Humboldt State University where Jason worked to complete HSU's Mellon project, co-author the first Moodle course on how to develop for Moodle, and implement a solid Moodle development, testing and documentation processes for student developers. Jason earned his MBA and BS in Computer Information Systems from Humboldt State University in 2002.

Michael Penney, Managing Director for Moodlerooms, Western Region

For the past twelve years, Penney has administered and developed projects at Humboldt State University’s Courseware Development Center. In December, 2006, Penney’s team was recognized by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and was a recipient of their $100,000 Mellon Awards for Technology Collaboration for their work in developing the Moodle LMS. Over the past year, Penney has also worked independently with the Intel Corporation on designing and developing Moodle tools and features.
