Martin Dougiamas Moodle’s Lead Developer was named Best Education Enabler at the 2008 OSCON Awards

Martin Dougiamas, the Lead Developer for Moodle was named the Best Education Enabler at the 2008 OSCON Awards. The Google-O'Reilly Open Source Awards have been presented to individuals for dedication, innovation, leadership and outstanding contribution to open source. This year’s winners included representatives from BarCamp, Mircoformats, Spread Firefox, Drupal, Moodle, Samba, Rsync and gplviolations.org.

Martin was recognized as a leader in open source education for his vision and innovations in Moodle. With 21 million users in 199 countries speaking 78 languages, Moodle is quickly becoming the world’s most popular learning management system. The rapid adoption, community support and fast development cycle can be attributed to its open source license. The award was presented by a committee made up of some of the biggest names in the open source community.
