Sun Microsystems Partners with Moodlerooms

November 25, 2006 Press Release

BALTIMORE, MD --- Sun Microsystems,  a global  industry leader in servers, storage, software, and services, has partnered with Baltimore-based Moodlerooms, an e-learning service company.

Moodlerooms has leveraged the combination of Sun servers and Solaris Operating System to greatly increase the speed and agility of its e-learning software application.

“Anyone in the world can download Moodle e-learning software and use it at their school or business”, said Tom Murdock, a co-founder of Moodlerooms. “We're taking the next step and identifying the hardware and software combination that really lets this software sing.  With the tools that we have received from Sun, we have found ways to make Moodle run hundreds of times faster than it will in a conventional server environment."

Moodlerooms is in the process of moving its current and new clients over to this environment.  "Speed and reliability are critical factors in an online experience." Murdock asserts.  "With Sun as a partner, we are uncovering whole new possibilities for our clients in education and training."  Moodlerooms intends to share a whitepaper soon with its configuration and results.
